Prishtina – Today, 1 April, marks the start of the implementation of the Agreement for Stabilization and Association reached between Kosovo and European Union last year.

Through this agreement, Kosovo and the EU have established a formal contractual relationship, which, according to the minister of European Integration, Bekim Çollaku, its entry into force only leads the irreversible course towards European Union membership.

Interviewed by ‘KosovaPress’ about the importance of this agreement, Çollaku said that it has paramount importance for the whole country, because it will affect every sphere of society, in order to strengthen the political and democratic stability, rule of law, international and regional cooperation, sustainable market economy and gradual approximation with the European standards in all areas.

Kosovo Customs on the other hand have made all preparations for the changes that will be effectuate as a result of this resolution.

The spokesman of the Customs of Kosovo, Adriatik Stavileci noted that customs are ready for its implementation.

He said that SAA “will reduce customs fees for five years, to 9% in the first year, while in the coming years, this reduction will occur gradually”.

The signing of SAA has been considered as one of Kosovo’s biggest achievements due to the numerous benefits that its implementation will bring.

This agreement will help Kosovo producers to enter the European market and also to boost commercial relations between Kosovo producers and EU producers. /KosovaPress/
