Representatives of Hamas have met for the first time with the envoys of US President Donald Trump’s “Peace Board”, in an attempt to revive the Gaza initiative.
According to reports, the meeting took place in Cairo at the end of last week and was described as preliminary, without any concrete progress.
During the talks, Hamas officials demanded the reopening of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, which remains closed after Israeli airstrikes. They warned that a lack of humanitarian access could prompt them to withdraw from ceasefire agreements.
Although an official cease-fire ended the two-year war between Israel and Gaza in October, Israel has continued airstrikes, causing hundreds of new casualties. /message
