The acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, has invited the leaders of the political parties or their representatives to a consultative meeting on Tuesday, August 18, at 09:00.

The invitation has been sent separately to the representatives of the political subjects.

The invitation states that the meeting is related to current political and institutional developments, as well as reaching an agreement on the election of a president consensual.

“In the capacity of the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, I invite you to a consultative meeting regarding the current political and institutional developments, as well as the importance of reaching an agreement for the election of a consensual President and, consequently, for the formation of other constitutional institutions”, the invitation states.

The meeting will be held in the Office of the President, while the guests have been asked to confirm their participation or the representative of the political entity.

The invitation comes after the Democratic League of Kosovo called for consensual candidacies for the president.

The head of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, said on Friday that the next president should be a consensual figure, with the widest possible political and civic support.

Kurti stated that the aim is that through an agreement for the president to avoid the possibility of going to the elections new.

“We are ready to have exhaustive discussions about the names that we can give signatures to and run. Someone who is outside the current political scene, outside the daily party controversies and who is a unifying figure,” declared Kurti./ RTK
