Kosovo, the second poorest country in Europe, Kurti in Vienna says that the country’s economy and foreign investments have increased

The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has participated in the opening of the “Vienna Economic Forum – Meet Kosovo in Vienna 2026”, which this year is being held under the patronage of the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo and the Chancellor of Austria, Christian Stocker.

In his speech at the opening session with the theme “Kosovo’s path towards economic integration and growth”, Kurti expressed his gratitude for Austria’s continuous support to Kosovo, describing the partnership between the two countries as stable and built on strong human ties.

He emphasized the role of the Kosovar diaspora in Austria as a bridge between the two countries, saying that it contributes both to the Austrian economy and to the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Kurti also mentioned the investments of companies from the diaspora in Kosovo, as well as the presence of Austrian businesses in the country, evaluating this as evidence of increased cooperation economic.

Speaking about economic integration, he emphasized that it is not achieved only through political statements, but through investments in infrastructure, energy, digital networks and trade.

Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the opening of the “Vienna Economic Forum – Meet Kosovo in Vienna 2026”, which is being held this year under the patronage of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Austria, Christian Stocker.

At the beginning of his speech, in the opening session “Kosovo’s road to economic integration and growth”, Acting Prime Minister Kurti expressed thanks and gratitude for Austria’s lifelong friendship and continuous support to Kosovo.

Acting Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that the partnership between the two countries goes beyond governments, because it lives through people. In this context, he mentioned the Kosovar diaspora in Austria, which contributes to Austrian society, strengthens economic ties and serves as a living bridge between the two countries.

He mentioned some of the companies with owners from the diaspora in Austria, who have returned to invest, as well as Austrian companies that have invested in Kosovo. While he thanked the local companies participating in the Vienna Economic Forum.

Prime Minister Kurti spoke about economic integration as a strategy for growth and how the conditions for meaningful integration can be built. He emphasized that economic integration is not only done through declarations, but through infrastructure, energy, digital networks, trade and investments.

While talking about the continuous economic growth of recent years, the increase in exports as well as that of foreign direct investments, Acting Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that Kosovo is one of the countries with the best performance of democratic governance, transparency and the rule of law in the region.

In addition to getting closer to the European market through the movement of made possible by visa liberalization for the Schengen Area, he said that Kosovo is part of the European Union’s Growth Plan and that it is preparing to become part of the Single Euro Payments Area – SEPA, as well as the “Roam Like at Home” initiative, as actions towards integration into the European market.

In the context of measures to facilitate economic integration, Acting Prime Minister Kurti spoke about the plans for the construction of railway infrastructure, for the creation of the network internal and to be connected with the region and Europe.

Acting Prime Minister Kurti spoke about building a stable economy for decades, where, in addition to infrastructure and energy, investments are also made in people.

Meanwhile, for companies considering investments in the Western Balkans, he emphasized that Kosovo offers a convincing combination: the 10% tax for corporations, the euro as the official currency, a new and growing workforce, as well as a clear path to membership in the European Union, which enables predictability in the regulation that long-term investors require.
