The Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was received in a bilateral meeting by the Chancellor of Austria, Christian Stocker, as part of his official visit to Vienna.
According to the announcement of the Prime Minister’s Office, Kurti thanked Austria for the continuous support to Kosovo since the 90s, in the process of state building, on the way to European integration, as well as for the contribution within KFOR.
“Teksa praised Austria’s support to Kosovo expressed at the Committee of Ministers, in Chisinau in May 2026, Acting Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that one of the highest priorities of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains membership in the Council of Europe,” the announcement states.
Kurti underlined the importance of continued support from Austria and its role in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Also, he said he welcomes the Chancellor’s statement. Stocker that “the European Union is not complete, secure and stable without the Western Balkans”.
“After saying that the Republic of Kosovo is determined, committed and committed to its membership path, Acting Prime Minister Kurti spoke about the importance of the EU responding by granting the status of a candidate state and opening negotiations”, the announcement further states.
During the meeting, Kurti and Stocker also discussed the deepening of bilateral relations. between Kosovo and Austria, with special emphasis on economic and commercial cooperation, investments, the role of emigrants, energy and digital transformation.
The meeting also discussed security, defense and regional cooperation.
In the end, Kurti congratulated Austria on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2027-2028, while accepting congratulations for the victory in the early parliamentary elections of June 7.
