The head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Kamal Kharrazi, died of injuries sustained in a US-Israeli attack that targeted his home on April 1, Iran’s state media Anadolu reported.
Kharrazi also served as Iran’s foreign minister from 1997 to 2005. His wife was killed in the attack on their home, the agency reported. semi-official Fars news agency.
Hostilities in the region escalated after the US and Israel on February 28 launched joint attacks on Iran, which left thousands dead and wounded.
On Tuesday, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire aimed at paving the way for a final agreement to end the war.
