The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that after the end of the information period on March 15, from March 16 the application for residence permit and address declaration will start in accordance with the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicles. This action comes after the statements of Prime Minister Albin Kurti and EU special representative Peter Sorensen.
The MIA also announced that for a period of three months it will be possible to register in the Civil Registry of Kosovo births, marriages and deaths that have been registered until March 15, 2026 in Serbian parallel institutions.
Also, temporary recognition of identity cards issued by these structures will be allowed, only for identification purposes.
The Ministry announced that foreign citizens are obliged to declare their address within three days of entering Kosovo, through the Kosovo Police application, website or at the nearest police station.
