Kidneys perform an important function in the body every day, and changes in their work can be manifested through various symptoms. Although certain signs can be associated with numerous health conditions, some complaints should not be ignored because they can also occur in kidney diseases, including kidney cancer.
One of the symptoms most often associated with kidney problems is blood in the urine. It may not always be easy to spot, but any blood in the urine should be checked as it could be caused by other conditions, such as an infection or kidney stones.
You should also pay attention to pain that lasts for a long time in the back or side of the body, especially between the ribs and the waist. Some people may also develop a lump or swelling in the back, under the ribs, or in the neck.
The changes may not just affect the kidneys. Possible symptoms include loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, extreme fatigue and lack of energy. You may also experience persistent fever and excessive night sweats.
It is important to remember that these symptoms do not in themselves mean that a person has kidney cancer. The same symptoms can be caused by different, less serious health problems. However, if they occur, especially if they persist or recur, it is necessary to check their cause and consult a doctor.
Kidney cancer in the early stages often does not cause clear symptoms and may be detected during examination or imaging for other reasons. Therefore, unusual and long-term changes in the body should not be ignored.
