Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said today that his country is proposing a bilateral agreement on drones with Germany, reports Anadolu.

Speaking at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin, Zelenskyy said that Europe’s industry, technological base and military-political capabilities should be sufficient to provide reliable protection for all under any conditions.

He said that this applies in particular to the ability of Europe to produce anti-ballistic air defense “in the necessary volumes and full-scale protection” against any air target, including drones. Zelenskyy said that this issue was discussed during his meeting with Merz.

“Ukraine is ready to make its contribution. We have offered Germany a drone agreement, a bilateral agreement on drones, various types of drones, missiles, software and modern defense,” Zelenskyy said, stressing that their teams are starting “concrete work”.

“Our experience can be integrated into the European security system,” Zelenskyy added, arguing that the work of Ukraine with the countries of the Middle East and the Gulf region proves that its experience and proposals are “the most effective”.

Zelenskyy said that they have an agreement on a new contribution from Germany to the production of drones in Ukraine, thanking Merz for all the steps he has already taken. “I appreciate that the cooperation between Ukraine and Germany has reached the level of a meaningful strategic partnership,” he said.

The Ukrainian president arrived in Berlin today for talks with the German chancellor, a day after he said Kiev is preparing the groundwork for deeper security agreements in Europe, adding that they expect to “achieve results this very week.”

Last week, Zelenskyy said he would hold talks “in the near future” with the countries the European Union on defense against Russian drones and Ukraine’s accession to the EU, among other topics.

Prior to the press conference, Ukraine and Germany signed a data cooperation agreement between their defense ministries as well as a joint statement of intent to “support industrial recovery and sustainability” between their economy ministries.
