The heavy rains that have engulfed North Macedonia have caused floods, landslides and infrastructural damage in some regions of the country, while the emergency authorities have announced a yellow warning level for flooding, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

The Directorate for Hydrometeorological Affairs (UHMR), which announced a yellow warning level on social networks, called on citizens to be more careful and follow official instructions, warning for potential danger from the local outflow of rivers and seasonal streams, as a result of the heavy rains that have engulfed the country.<\/p>\n

The Center for Crisis Management (CUK) announced that the head of the center, Muhamed Ali, together with the emergency line and operational sector teams are constantly monitoring the situation, and called on citizens to report any difficulties or dangers.<\/p>\n

According to the data collected from the calls and interventions until the evening hours, intense rains have caused problems in several regions of the country.<\/p>\n

Situation aggravated by bad weather, authorities on the ground<\/p>\n

Data from CUK show that in the region of Gostivar and its surroundings, respectively on the road axis Gostivar-Strazh\u00eb, landslides have been noted on the road, but traffic is developing normally. Also in the Tetov\u00eb-Banj\u00eb direction, there are landslides on the road, making circulation difficult.<\/p>\n

However, in the village of Balin Dol, floods have been recorded from the Vardar river, where about 10 agricultural plots and some yards have been flooded, while there has also been a decrease in energy production at ‘HEC Mavrov\u00eb’.<\/p>\n

Floods have also been reported in the villages of Malo Tur\u00e7an and Banj\u00eb e Ep\u00ebrme from the rivers Lakavi\u010dka and Sushi\u010dka, with flooded agricultural land and lack of an adequate mechanism for intervention on the part of the municipality.<\/p>\n

In the region of Manastir and its surroundings, in the village of Lera, there is flooding near the bridge, with the risk of spreading to the residential area. In the village of Porodin, flooding was also reported in a chicken farm, while in some villages of the Municipality of Resnja, yards and agricultural land were flooded, although the rivers did not overflow their banks.<\/p>\n

In the Ohrid region, flooding was recorded in basements, garages and yards, where the municipality and public services intervened. In K\u00ee\u00e7ovo, several residential buildings were flooded on Prilepska Street and about 60 people were evacuated to the sports gym “Hristo Uzunov”.<\/p>\n

CUK stressed that all responsible services are on the ground and are intervening to manage the consequences of the severe weather.<\/p>\n
