The famous archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass believes he is close to discovering the long-lost tomb of Egypt’s Queen Nefertiti.<\/p>\n

Hawass, an Egyptologist and former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, boldly predicted that he would make a major discovery of Nefertiti’s tomb before he retired in the documentary Man in the Hat.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I made this discovery, I think I would be happy.\u201d to end my career with the most important discovery of Egypt’s most important queen \u2014 Queen Nefertiti,” he said in a new documentary about his career.<\/p>\n

The discovery of Queen Nefertiti’s tomb may determine whether Hawass, 78, was right in predicting that she took over power from her husband, Pharaoh Akhenaten, after his death in 1336 BC. Historically, she has been portrayed in ways that only a pharaoh would. However, no one has officially found her tomb, leaving her role during a period of intense turmoil among the greatest mysteries in ancient Egyptian history.<\/p>\n

Hawass and his team recently excavated in the eastern Valley of the Kings, near the burial site of Hatshepsut, a powerful pharaoh who ruled between 1479 and 1458 BC.<\/p>\n

Despite a lack of evidence. concrete, Hawass, star of the television series Chasing Mummies, has a strong feeling that the queen may have been buried there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are currently working in an area in the eastern valley, near the tomb of Queen Hatshepsut,\u201d Hawass said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope this could be the tomb of Queen Nefertiti … this discovery could happen soon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hawass has been digging. in the region for years and has discovered two tombs in particular, KV 65 and KV 66. The work could help create a key map of the region and determine the possible location of Nefertiti’s tomb.<\/p>\n
