{"id":142,"date":"2013-07-22T07:59:33","date_gmt":"2013-07-22T04:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/?p=142"},"modified":"2013-07-30T07:59:49","modified_gmt":"2013-07-30T04:59:49","slug":"croatian-war-crimes-suspects-detention-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/croatian-war-crimes-suspects-detention-extended\/","title":{"rendered":"Croatian War Crimes Suspect\u2019s Detention Extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/cro.jpeg\" alt=\"cro\" width=\"134\" height=\"100\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-143\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The county court in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek has extended custody for Bosnjak, who is on trial for his role in an attack on Serb civilians in Sisak in 1991, because of the \u201cexceptionally serious criminal offence\u201d he is accused of committing.<\/p>\n<p>Osijek court made its decision after Croatia\u2019s constitutional court ruled last Wednesday that holding Bosnjak for two years without a proper explanation could be regarded as punishment before any sentence was delivered.<\/p>\n<p>Bosnjak\u2019s lawyer, Domagoj Resetar, said he would appeal again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Osijek court obviously didn\u2019t examine the constitutional court decision well,\u201d Resetar said.<\/p>\n<p>Bosnjak, the wartime commander of a special police unit called the \u2018Wolves\u2019 in the central Croatian town of Sisak, is standing trial for crimes against Serb civilians together with former Sisak police commander Vladimir Milankovic.<\/p>\n<p>Bosnjak was indicted for organising and leading a group that detained and tortured Serb civilians, allegedly killing eight of the 24 victims named in the indictment.<\/p>\n<p>Milankovic is charged with allowing, encouraging and not investigating the physical and psychological torture, illegal detention and humiliation of Serb civilians in the Sisak area from July 1991 until June 1992.<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with personally torturing and ordering the illegal arrest of a large number of Serb civilians from Sisak, which resulted in the deaths of the 24 victims.\/balkaninsight<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The county court in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek has extended custody for Bosnjak, who is on trial for his role in an attack on Serb civilians in Sisak in 1991, because of the \u201cexceptionally serious criminal offence\u201d he is accused of committing.
