Organizers says protest follows demonstration at African Union summit in Johannesburg<\/p>\n

CAPE TOWN, South Africa<\/p>\n

Protestors gathered Friday at Al-Sunny Mosque in Bellville, Cape Town, to pray and protest against the brutality of the Sisi regime in Egypt and its mass death sentences.<\/p>\n

After Friday prayers, hundreds of Muslims, men and women, from various nationalities — Somalis, Egyptians, Jordanians, Iraqis, Palestinians, and South Africans — gathered outside the mosque and marched against the death sentences handed down to former President Mohamed Morsi and other Muslim Brotherhood leaders.<\/p>\n

The protestors marched through the Bellville central business district, holding Egyptian and South African flags and carrying posters of Morsi and Mandela.<\/p>\n

Throughout the protest, the demonstrators were joined by many other supporters. <\/p>\n

Ahmed Meshtawy, one of the organizers, said that \u201ctoday’s march is a continuity of our protest at the African Union summit in Johannesburg.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday’s protest is part of our Ramadan month campaign against al-Sisi and his military government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meshtawy also explained that they intend to organize protests and lectures each day of Ramadan in various areas of Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Many other ARAB and African Muslims joined the march. <\/p>\n
