Israel said on Monday that it has given the Palestinian group Hamas a 60-day ultimatum to disarm, threatening a full return to war if it does not obey the decision.<\/p>\n
Hamas “must hand over all its weaponry,” including rifles, Israeli Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs said during a conference in Jerusalem, quoted by The Times of Israel.<\/p>\n
Fusch claimed that this period has been sought from the United States administration, and that they are respecting that.<\/p>\n
Without confirming when exactly the ultimatum will start, Fuchs said it could start with the February 19 meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Peace Council.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will evaluate it,\u201d Fuchs said. “If it works, great. If not, then the IDF (army) will have to complete the mission.”<\/p>\n
There was no immediate comment from Hamas or Washington on the Israeli claim.<\/p>\n
