Indonesia has suspended all discussions on the proposed “Peace Board” initiative, launched by US President Donald Trump, citing the military escalation in the Middle East, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n
As reported by the ‘Middle East Monitor’, Indonesian chief diplomat Sugiono said that the decision was taken in response to recent developments in the region.<\/p>\n
He said that the escalation has directly affected the foreign policy priorities of the countries of involved in this initiative.<\/p>\n
Sugiono explained that international attention has shifted to the consequences of the conflict involving Iran.<\/p>\n
He added that Indonesia will conduct intensive consultations with partners in the Gulf region, who, according to him, are directly affected by the ongoing attacks and rising tensions.<\/p>\n
Indonesia’s participation in this initiative has also faced criticism from political and religious groups within The country.<\/p>\n
Critics argue that joining a council led by President Trump’s administration could undermine Indonesia’s long-standing stance in support of the Palestinian cause.<\/p>\n
In the same context, Indonesia’s Ulema Council called for an immediate withdrawal from this initiative.<\/p>\n
The council said the proposed body has no effectiveness while military operations in the region continue.<\/p>\n
According to ‘Middle East Monitor’, the decision to suspend participation comes at a time when regional tensions remain high and diplomatic discussions about this initiative are facing increasing scrutiny.<\/p>\n
