The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the country does not need to go to new elections, stressing that it is necessary to reach an agreement with the opposition parties for the election of the new president.<\/p>\n

Kurti made these statements from the premises of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK), where he was asked about the political developments in the country.<\/p>\n

He said that his position remains the same as what he had expressed in the media conference a week ago.<\/p>\n

“I have nothing to add from the media conference I had a week ago and I don’t believe it is necessary to repeat myself. The President of the Republic is the head of the state, while I am the prime minister of the country”, said Kurti.<\/p>\n

According to him, there is currently also a case being handled by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, while the focus should be on institutional stability.<\/p>\n

“Last year we had four two elections and I am convinced that we do not need to repeat the year 2025. The year 2026 is a new year and it is neither right nor useful to have repeated elections”, he said.<\/p>\n

Kurti emphasized that the solution must come through political cooperation.<\/p>\n

“It is imperative that we have an agreement with the opposition parties for the election of the president, because the citizens of the republic need institutional stability and not repeated elections”, he declared. the prime minister.<\/p>\n

He added that the functioning of the Assembly is urgent, as many international agreements have remained suspended.<\/p>\n

“There are over 120 million euros in various international agreements that have been delayed because the Assembly is not functioning”, Kurti said.<\/p>\n

According to him, new elections would also bring significant financial costs to the state.<\/p>\n

“New elections would cost at least 10 million euros”, he stressed. he.<\/p>\n

Kurti also mentioned that the last parliamentary elections were held on December 28 and that, according to him, there were reasons why they were not held earlier.<\/p>\n

“For my strong conviction, the elections could not be held on December 21, as there was also a letter from the secretariat of the Central Election Commission stating that their organization on that date was impossible,” said Kurti.<\/p>\n
