United States officials have announced that Israel is facing a critical shortage of interceptors for ballistic missiles as the conflict with Iran continues.<\/p>\n

According to local media reports, Israel had started the current war with already low reserves of interceptors, after some of them were used during last summer’s clash with Iran. Israel’s long-range air defense systems have come under pressure from continued Iranian attacks.<\/p>\n

Other reports from CNN say that Iran has also begun using cluster munitions in its missiles, which could accelerate the depletion of interceptor stocks.<\/p>\n

US officials noted that the United States has been aware of this situation for months, but added that the US stockpile of interceptors are not in the same state. It is not yet clear whether Washington will decide to share or sell its interceptors to Israel, as such a move could also affect the US’s own reserves.<\/p>\n
