The Assembly of Albania has voted with 79 votes in favor of the draft resolution proposed by the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party for the declaration of Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism, while the Democratic Party, just as it warned, boycotted the session.<\/p>\n
In his speech during the presentation of the draft resolution, the head of the socialist parliamentary group Taulant Balla stated that at the core of this resolution is the declaration of the Revolutionary Guard of Iran and the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon as terrorist organizations. as well as strengthen cooperation with international partners in the fight against state-sponsored terrorism and their networks.<\/p>\n
“The resolution condemns any form of state support for terrorism, the use of “proxy” groups for destabilization and the use of hybrid means, including cyber attacks against the institutions of sovereign states.<\/p>\n
Also, the resolution calls on the Albanian government to, in accordance with the legislation and in coordination with the allies, declare the Revolutionary Guard of Iran and the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon as terrorist organizations, as well as to strengthen cooperation with international partners in the fight against terrorism sponsored by states and their networks”, declared Balla.<\/p>\n
The latter emphasized that terrorism is a deliberate strategy of intimidation, destabilization and undermining of the democratic order. In this context, he brought to attention the cyber attacks that have hit some of the institutions in our country, where the most recent case was recorded a few days ago, where the Parliament of Albania was hacked.<\/p>\n
Balla considered this cyber attack as a true act of hostility, with the aim of destabilizing democratic institutions and the normal functioning of the state. He underlined that vigilance must continue to remain high.<\/p>\n
“For Albania, this is not a distant geopolitical issue. Our country has itself been the object of direct attacks in cyberspace. The serious attack of 2022 on Albanian institutions was one of the most serious episodes of cyber aggression against a sovereign country, aiming to damage the functioning of institutions and undermine citizens’ trust in the state. Other attempts have been prevented or detected on time, but vigilance must remain high. A few days ago, the Assembly was again the object of a cyber attack.<\/p>\n
These are not ordinary technological incidents, but actual hostile acts aimed at destabilizing democratic institutions and the normal functioning of the state”, he emphasized.<\/p>\n
The Democratic Party boycotted today’s plenary session, as the head of the democratic parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, said, the session was called outside the usual meeting day. parliamentary and without an officially announced agenda.<\/p>\n
Also, Bardhi announced the boycott with the argument that the Parliament has turned into a “facade for government propaganda”<\/p>\n
