Slovakia continues to remain one of the rare countries in the European Union without an official mosque recognized by the state. However, the Muslim community in the country uses small prayer spaces to practice religion.<\/p>\n

In the capital Bratislava, there is a small center known as the “Islamic Center Cordoba”, which serves as a place of prayer (mosque) for Muslim believers. This space is not considered an official mosque and does not offer all religious services, such as the morning prayer.<\/p>\n

According to the legislation in force since 2016, a religious community must have over 50 thousand members to be officially recognized by the state. This high criterion makes it impossible to currently recognize Islam as the country’s official religion.<\/p>\n

The number of Muslims in Slovakia is estimated to be around 5,000 to 6,000 people, making the community relatively small.<\/p>\n

Despite the lack of a proper mosque, Muslim believers continue to organize and practice their religion in a limited way within these alternative spaces. \/message<\/p>\n
