The governments of Brazil, Mexico and Spain have called for urgent international action to address the humanitarian situation in Cuba, stressing the need to respect international law and the United Nations Charter.<\/p>\n
In a joint statement published by the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the three countries expressed concern about the worsening living conditions in Cuba and called on all parties to avoid actions that could further worsen the situation or violate international law.<\/p>\n
They also emphasized the importance of respecting state sovereignty, territorial integrity and the peaceful resolution of disputes, without external interference.<\/p>\n
The three countries reiterated the call for dialogue based on international law and the UN Charter, with the aim of finding long-term solutions that guarantee the Cuban people’s right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
This call comes at a time when Cuba is examines economic reform measures in the face of growing political and economic pressures, which have influenced the growth of emigration and social challenges.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, the administration of US President Donald Trump imposed new restrictions on the oil sector in Cuba, as part of a strategy called “maximum pressure”. These measures have added to economic hardship, including shortages of food, medicine and fuel, as well as power outages. \/message<\/p>\n
