The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the country should avoid early elections and focus on fulfilling the constitutional obligation to elect the president.<\/p>\n

At the 11th meeting of the Government, Kurti emphasized that the constitutional deadline for the election of the president is approaching and asked the political subjects for a will to resolve and willingness to compromise.<\/p>\n

“We have entered the last part of April and we have a deadline ahead of us. Constitutionalist, who is approaching. I believe that going to early parliamentary elections is not an option and the election of the president is a constitutional duty of the elected people – this requires a will for solutions, a willingness to compromise and difficult decisions,” he declared.<\/p>\n

Kurti added that no party can secure a sufficient majority to act alone, stressing the need for political cooperation.<\/p>\n

“We know that there is no party that can claim to win more than 80 deputies, therefore the results of the elections must be accepted and from those positions sincere and reasonable discussions should be held in the best interest of our country”, said the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the Government is open to a solution that reflects the will of the citizens and guarantees institutional stability, warning that a new election process may bring unnecessary consequences.<\/p>\n

“We are open to a solution that responds the will of the citizens. The country needs institutional stability. We are convinced that a new election cycle does not bring about major changes in the result, but it can delay good work and cause us to lose opportunities and unnecessary expenses,” stated Kurti.<\/p>\n
