Just as artists once stood against oppression in the Republic of South Africa, we stand together today”.

But despite calls from the artistic community for the exclusion of Israel from the competition, the organizer of Eurovision, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has remained silent. In turn, Israeli officials, including President Isaac Herzog, have waged an “intense, months-long diplomatic campaign, mostly behind the scenes,” lobbying European broadcasters to support Israel’s involvement. This revelation led to even more significant statements from some public media, including Spanish media, which condemned such manipulation and double standards by the EBU.

The EBU quickly banned Russia from participating due to its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, stating at the time that “the inclusion of a Russian representative in this year’s competition would damage the reputation of the event”. The musicians in the letter state that: “However, more than 30 months of genocide in Gaza, along with ethnic cleansing and land grabbing in the occupied West Bank, are not considered a sufficient reason to apply the same policy to Israel.” Israelis suffer beatings for their singing. While almost every stage, studio, bookstore and university in Gaza remains only piles of rubble under which the bodies of the murdered are still waiting to be exhumed and given a dignified burial.” which is followed by over 160 million viewers, so it is a shame that the State of Israel will also be on that stage this year, despite all the crimes its regime is committing in the Middle East. /tesheshi.com/

We use cookies to improve the experience and to display ads (Google AdSense).
By clicking “Accept”, you agree to the use of cookies according to
Privacy Policy
and
Cookies Policy.
You can reject non-necessary cookies by clicking “Reject”.

Source: prizrenpost

The Initiative for a Free Palestine has joined the open letter published today by the platform “No Music for Genocide”, whose signatories call for a boycott of Eurovision and speak out against the normalization of the genocide in Gaza, the siege and the brutal military occupation of the Palestinians.
