Lista Serbe has continued Belgrade’s well-known narrative about the events in Banjska, claiming that the court decision with two life sentences and a sentence of 30 years in prison for participants in the attack constitutes “revenge” that, according to it, further endangers the security and rights of the Serbian people in Kosovo.<\/p>\n

In its reaction, Lista Serbe described the decision as political and not based on evidence, claiming that the individual responsibility of convicts was not clearly defined and that the process did not meet the standards of a fair trial.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the decision does not bring justice, but deepens, as it was said, the insecurity and mistrust of the Serbian community towards the institutions of Kosovo.<\/p>\n

Using formulations that repeat the political line of Belgrade, Lista Serbe claimed that accusations of terrorism and crime are being unfairly used against Serbs in Kosovo, while presenting the verdict as an act with motives revenge.<\/p>\n

The party demanded a response from the international community, claiming that Kosovo’s courts are not acting on the basis of law and justice and that Serbs are not guaranteed a fair judicial process.<\/p>\n

In response, Lista Serbe also demanded that any appeal procedure be handled by a panel with a majority of Serbian judges, referring to agreements on the judiciary.<\/p>\n

The statement is seen as a continuation of the narrative long promoted by Belgrade, which tends to present the actions of Kosovo institutions as politically motivated and the procedures against persons related to the attack in Banjska as pressure on the Serbian community.<\/p>\n
