According to a recent poll, half of Britons believe that Prime Minister Keir Starmer should resign, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

The poll by Ipsos also shows widespread doubts about the Labor Party’s chances in the next general election.<\/p>\n

The poll, conducted with 2,262 adults between April 17 and 21 and shared with London radio station LBC, found that 50 20 per cent of those polled think Starmer should stand down, while 36 per cent say he should stay in office.<\/p>\n

It also showed that 68 per cent of Britons believe it is unlikely that Starmer will win the next general election, a 5 percentage point increase since June 2025.<\/p>\n

Ipsos said the poll took place during a period of heightened political pressure following a controversy over vetting former British ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, who has faced scrutiny over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n

“As speculation mounts about Keir Starmer’s future, the way forward for Labor remains unclear,” said Ipsos policy director Keiran Pedley.<\/p>\n

“6 in 10 people have a negative opinion of him and half think he should go,” he added. him.<\/p>\n

However, Ipsos highlighted a slight improvement in support for Prime Minister Starmer compared to February, when 52 per cent backed him to resign.<\/p>\n

The poll also suggested a lack of consensus on potential successors, with Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham emerging as the preferred alternative, although he is not a member of parliament.<\/p>\n

Party popularity ratings ranked the Party The Greens came first with 28 per cent, followed by UK Reform with 27 per cent, the Liberal Democrats with 23 per cent, the Conservatives with 22 per cent and Labor in last place with 20 per cent.<\/p>\n
