The UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, has stated that most families in the Gaza Strip are facing a lack of clean water, while ongoing attacks and damage to infrastructure are deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

“Regarding the occupied Palestinian territory, our humanitarian colleagues say that attacks across the Gaza Strip continue to hit residential areas and disrupt basic services,” Dujarric told reporters.<\/p>\n

He cited a recent airstrike in Gaza City that reportedly hit a non-governmental organization worker near a water well, killing one person and injuring four others, while the facility suffered heavy damage and was forced to shut down.<\/p>\n

“Despite this, partners working on water supply say overall production has not dropped immediately and are filling gaps by provide more clean water through tankers. They point out that people’s water needs are far from met. About 60 percent of households in Gaza do not have access to the clean water they need for daily use,” he added.<\/p>\n

The organizations warn that the current temporary measures are costly and unsustainable.<\/p>\n

He said the UN is continuing to work with the authorities to facilitate the entry of essential materials. to maintain water production and other vital services.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout them, water production and other services are at serious risk of collapse,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

A ceasefire was reached after two years of devastating Israeli war in Gaza that began in October 2023, leaving over 72,000 Palestinians dead and more than 172,000 injured.<\/p>\n

Gaza continues to face a unprecedented humanitarian and health crisis, with widespread destruction of infrastructure, including hospitals and health facilities.<\/p>\n

The Palestinian enclave also faces strict Israeli restrictions on the entry of fuel and medical supplies, as well as severe shortages of medicine and equipment.<\/p>\n
