Pakistan said on Thursday that it has kept “open channels of communication” with the US and Iran in recent weeks, amid stalled talks on addressing “complex geopolitical challenges”, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

Islamabad has continued to maintain “sustainable interaction” with Washington and Tehran in recent weeks, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi said during a regular press conference in Islamabad.<\/p>\n

Pakistan remains committed to regional stability and international peace, “reflecting our preference for diplomacy oriented toward principled dialogue and addressing complex geopolitical challenges,” as well as managing “serious disputes,” he added.<\/p>\n

Andrabi then detailed the country’s diplomatic outreach efforts, conducted both by phone and in person, with international partners and regional.<\/p>\n

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also said Wednesday that diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East are continuing “steadily.” in the Gulf and closing the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

A ceasefire was announced on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, followed by talks in Islamabad on April 11, but an agreement could not be reached.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump later unilaterally extended the ceasefire without a new deadline, at Pakistan’s request.<\/p>\n

He also rejected a proposal by Iran, in which Tehran suggested reopening the Strait of Hormuz, leaving questions about its nuclear program for later negotiations.<\/p>\n
