The other patients were also escorted by the ophthalmologist.

Berisha announced that the patients being treated are one-year-olds.

She calls on parents not to hesitate to vaccinate their children, as according to her the risk of the disease is great.

“There are currently four patients in the Infectious Disease Clinic, who should be escorted at least this weekend. One of them continues to be treated after he returned from the intensive treatment of the Pediatrics Clinic, due to a deterioration, of a rather serious complication, but now he is in a stable condition. Most of them were born in 2025. The health condition of all of them was relatively serious, while one of them also acquired serious complications in the lungs 3:10 Some of them hesitate to vaccinate their children, falling prey to various misinformation. Our appeal is that parents do not hesitate to vaccinate their children. The vaccine is not harmful, but the risk of the disease is great,” said Berisha.

Xhevrije Canolli from the immunization unit in Pristina claims that all confirmed cases are unvaccinated children.

know that all unvaccinated children in the vicinity of Pristina have been identified and parents have been contacted to vaccinate them with the measles vaccine.

Vaccination in schools is also continuing from the mobile team.

She said that there is an increase in parents’ interest in vaccination, where more than 200 children were vaccinated during April alone after the spread, meanwhile, over 680 children between the ages of one and five were vaccinated in the period from January to April. year old.

“All confirmed cases have been unvaccinated children. Non-vaccination has directly affected the spread of this contagious disease. Vaccination is the only surest and most effective way to prevent the further spread of measles in our country. We have identified all unvaccinated children and are contacting their parents so that they can be vaccinated as soon as possible at Family Medicine Centers. Also, The mobile team is vaccinating 100 percent of the children against measles. 2:09 During the first four months, 215 children were vaccinated against measles, so there was an increase in the interest of parents in vaccination unvaccinated, pregnant women, people with weakened immunity,” she said.

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKSHPK), in a response to KosovaPress, announced that those who refuse to vaccinate children against measles in the country are a minority, who are influenced by misinformation without any scientific basis.

IKSHPK emphasizes that vaccinations are required by law and parents cannot enroll their children in preschool or school institutions without confirming the vaccination.

“Those who refuse to vaccinate their children against Measles are a minority, because most parents, as vaccination statistics in Kosovo show, vaccinate their children. Those who hesitate or refuse are influenced by misinformation and conspiracies that have no scientific basis and harm vaccination efforts. Vaccines that are part of the regular vaccination calendar in Kosovo (which contains 13 vaccines) are required by law, just like parents in the case of registering children in preschool and school institutions, based on two administrative instructions of the Ministry of Education, they must prove that their children have received the vaccines. If parents do not fully comply with these obligations, they are in a way self-sanctioning their children, exposing them to the risk to their health,” says the response of the IKSHPK.

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that mainly affects children adults.

It is caused by the measles virus and spreads very easily through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

The main symptoms are high fever, cough and runny nose, red and irritated eyes, and red rashes on the skin that spread all over the body.

In some cases, measles can cause serious complications such as lung infections or other health problems, so vaccination is the most effective way to protection.

We use cookies to improve the experience and to display advertisements (Google AdSense).
By clicking “Accept”, you agree to the use of cookies according to
Privacy Policy
and
Cookies Policy.
You can reject non-necessary cookies by clicking “Reject”.

Source: prizrenpost

From April 16 to May 8, ten cases of measles have been confirmed in Kosovo.
