From April 16 to May 8, ten cases of measles have been confirmed in Kosovo.<\/p>\n

At the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the KKUK currently four patients are being treated.<\/p>\n
According to the director of this clinic, Vera Berisha, their health condition was relatively serious, while one of them had serious lung complications. The other patients were also escorted by the ophthalmologist.<\/p>\n
Berisha announced that the patients being treated are one-year-olds.<\/p>\n
She calls on parents not to hesitate to vaccinate their children, as according to her the risk of the disease is great.<\/p>\n
“There are currently four patients in the Infectious Disease Clinic, who should be escorted at least this weekend. One of them continues to be treated after he returned from the intensive treatment of the Pediatrics Clinic, due to a deterioration, of a rather serious complication, but now he is in a stable condition. Most of them were born in 2025. The health condition of all of them was relatively serious, while one of them also acquired serious complications in the lungs 3:10 Some of them hesitate to vaccinate their children, falling prey to various misinformation. Our appeal is that parents do not hesitate to vaccinate their children. The vaccine is not harmful, but the risk of the disease is great,” said Berisha.<\/p>\n

We have identified all unvaccinated children and are contacting their parents so that they can be vaccinated as soon as possible at Family Medicine Centers. The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKSHPK), in a response to KosovaPress, announced that those who refuse to vaccinate children against measles in the country are a minority, who are influenced by misinformation without any scientific basis.<\/p>\n
IKSHPK emphasizes that vaccinations are required by law and parents cannot enroll their children in preschool or school institutions without confirming the vaccination.<\/p>\n
“Those who refuse to vaccinate their children against Measles are a minority, because most parents, as vaccination statistics in Kosovo show, vaccinate their children. Those who hesitate or refuse are influenced by misinformation and conspiracies that have no scientific basis and harm vaccination efforts. Vaccines that are part of the regular vaccination calendar in Kosovo (which contains 13 vaccines) are required by law, just like parents in the case of registering children in preschool and school institutions, based on two administrative instructions of the Ministry of Education, they must prove that their children have received the vaccines.
