The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, Helen McEntee, has stated that the countries of the European Union (EU) must act as they cannot continue to be “spectators”, especially when it comes to the Gaza Strip, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n
Speaking to journalists before the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, McEntee reiterated that Ireland has requested sanctions against violent settlers in the West Bank and “those who support”.<\/p>\n
“It is my belief that the EU must act, that we cannot continue to be spectators, especially when it comes to Gaza and the escalating situation in the West Bank,” she said.<\/p>\n
Noting that she will seek the suspension of the trade elements of the Association Agreement between Israel and the EU, McEntee said it is “absolutely essential” that the EU complies with the right <\/p>\n
“It has become very clear that this kind of trade is illegal, so I will work with colleagues. The longer this is delayed, the longer it will go on and the less likely Israel will change its behavior,” said McEntee. <\/p>\n
As she said, the violence has not decreased, but rather has only increased and that the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. <\/p>\n
“So the humanitarian situation remains catastrophic. No aid is coming in. “Enough and Israel’s actions are not changing. I think we have to act,” she added We do not support this,” she added.<\/p>\n
Later, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced a new round of sanctions targeting Israeli settlers and organizations accused of supporting illegal settlement activities in the occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n
“It’s done! The EU is imposing sanctions on key Israeli organizations today of the extremist and violent colonization of the West Bank, as well as their leaders. These very serious and intolerable acts must be stopped without delay,” wrote Barrot on the American social network X.<\/p>\n
