The United Arab Emirates has carried out a series of attacks on Iran during the joint US-Israeli offensive, according to a report published by the Wall Street Journal on Monday.<\/p>\n

One of the targets was a refinery on Iran’s Lavan Island, according to the newspaper’s anonymous sources.<\/p>\n

The refinery was struck in early April as US President Donald Trump was about to announce a ceasefire with Iran, causing a large fire and putting the facility out of commission, according to the Journal.<\/p>\n

Iran retaliated by launching ballistic missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. One of the sources said the US quietly welcomed the UAE’s entry into the war.<\/p>\n

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not comment on the attacks when asked by the newspaper for comment.<\/p>\n

However, it cited a previously issued statement emphasizing Abu Dhabi’s right to respond to hostile acts.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said that Israel has sent “Iron Dome” anti-missile batteries and personnel to operate them in the United Arab Emirates to defend the country during the war with Iran, writes AP.<\/p>\n

“I would like to express an appreciation for the United Arab Emirates, the first member of the Abraham agreement,” said Huckabee at the Tel Aviv Conference. “Just look at the benefits. Israel just sent them batteries and Iron Dome personnel to help them operate.”<\/p>\n

Huckabee’s comments came after US Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, was quoted as saying the same thing during an event at the Israeli mission there on Monday night – suggesting this was a deliberate release of the information, likely with the blessing of the Emirates and Israelis.<\/p>\n

This is the first time it has been publicly acknowledged that there has been an Israeli military deployment in the Emirates.<\/p>\n

The United Arab Emirates diplomatically recognized Israel in 2020. \/teve1<\/p>\n
