Israeli Negev and Galilee Affairs Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Quds on Wednesday, two days before the anniversary of Israel’s occupation of the city, according to Palestinian sources, Anadolu reported.<\/p>\n

Wasserlauf is a member of the far-right Otzma Yehudi party led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.<\/p>\n

Both Ben-Gvir and Wasserlauf had previously forced their way into the Al-Aqsa compound, prompting a wave of condemnation from Palestinians and Arab countries.<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s raid comes two days before Israel marks the Jewish calendar anniversary of its 1967 occupation of East Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

Israeli far-right organizations have called on supporters of attack the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound to mark Israel’s occupation of the city. They also plan a flag march planned for Thursday evening in East Quds.<\/p>\n

Israel occupied East Quds, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the Arab-Israeli War of 1967. It also annexed the entire city in 1980, an action that was never recognized by the international community.<\/p>\n
