US Vice President JD Vance said today that Washington is “making progress” in negotiations with Iran, while emphasizing US President Donald Trump’s red line that Tehran should never have nuclear weapons, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n
“I spent a good part of the morning on the phone with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, as well as with a number of our friends in the Arab world. I think we are making progress,” Vance told reporters when asked if the US continues to engage with the Iranians after Trump called Tehran’s response “totally unacceptable”.<\/p>\n
“The fundamental question is whether we are making enough progress to meet the president’s red line. And the red line is very simple. He needs to feel confident that we have put in place a number of safeguards so that Iran never has a nuclear weapon,” Vance said.<\/p>\n
“I think we’ve made progress in Pakistan, but we’ve made even more since then,” he added. him.<\/p>\n
“The president has now steered us down the diplomatic path, and that’s what I’m focused on,” he continued.<\/p>\n
Asked about Trump’s statements that he doesn’t think about the “financial situation of Americans” during negotiations with Iran, Vance replied: “I think that’s a misinterpretation of what the president said.” a very aggressive and intensive diplomatic process to make sure that doesn’t happen,” he added.<\/p>\n
