{"id":36247,"date":"2026-05-14T14:35:34","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T12:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/a-story-of-genius-from-gaza-when-inhumanity-is-challenged-and-with-fantasy\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T14:35:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T12:35:34","slug":"a-story-of-genius-from-gaza-when-inhumanity-is-challenged-and-with-fantasy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/a-story-of-genius-from-gaza-when-inhumanity-is-challenged-and-with-fantasy\/","title":{"rendered":"A story of genius from Gaza: when inhumanity is challenged and with&#8230;fantasy!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/tala-farah-mousa.jpg\" style=\"width:100%;height:auto;margin-bottom:20px\"><\/p>\n<p>Inspiring stories from the country Holocaust no. 2: two sisters win prize for making bricks from rubble<\/p>\n<p>Two teenage girls from Gaza have won a regional Earth Prize award for an innovative project in which they make bricks from rubble for reuse, with the aim of turning the destruction into useful material for reconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>Sisters Farah and Tala Mousa, who live in a tent and were forcibly displaced several times after their home was destroyed, developed a method for processing construction waste into reusable material.<\/p>\n<p>As they said, the idea arose from the need to find a solution to the conditions of destruction in which they live.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur whole city has become a ruin and everything around us has forced us to think of a solution,\u201d said 17-year-old Tala.<\/p>\n<p>Their project involves crushing the rubble, sieving it and mixing it with materials such as clay, ash and glass dust, which results in a lightweight building material.<\/p>\n<p>The bricks are intended for non-load-bearing structures such as paths, partitions and garden areas, and the sisters plan to use the $12,500 prize to organize workshops and train other young people in the production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don&#8217;t want to just wait for outside help, but for people to get part of the reconstruction itself,&#8221; said the younger sister Farah.<\/p>\n<p>According to the United Nations, some 1.9 million people have been displaced since the start of the war in Gaza in 2023, while the damage in the strip is estimated at tens of billions of dollars, according to the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers of the Earth Prize say the purpose of the prize is to support young people who develop solutions to environmental and social challenges.
