He studied modern history at Ankara University\u2019s Faculty of Language, History and Geography, where he also earned his PhD.<\/p>\n<p>He taught Ottoman history at Chicago University until 1993.<\/p>\n<p>Inalcik was later invited to join the faculty of Ankara\u2019s Bilkent University, where he founded its history department, and where he taught until this year.<\/p>\n<p>Inalcik wrote numerous books and articles on history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>His most important work was his first book, Hicr\u00ee 835 tarihli S\u00fbret-i defter-i sancak-i Arvanid (Copied of register for A.H. 835 in Sanjak of Albania), which was published at Ankara in 1954 and presented one of the earliest available land register in Ottoman Empire&#8217;s archives.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ankara &#8211; World-renowned Turkish historian Halil Inalcik died in Ankara on Monday at the age of 100.
