Iran has drawn up a mechanism to regulate maritime traffic through a certain route in the Strait of Hormuz and will impose fees “for specialized services” provided under this system, a senior lawmaker said today, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

“In this process, only commercial ships and parties that cooperate with Iran will benefit from it,” wrote on the American social platform X Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the National Security Committee and Foreign Policy in the Iranian parliament.<\/p>\n

Noting that Tehran will publish the plan soon, Azizi added: “This road will remain closed to the operators of the so-called ‘freedom project.'”<\/p>\n

The US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, prompting retaliation by Tehran against Israel and Washington’s allies in the Persian Gulf, along with the closure of the Straits Hormuz.<\/p>\n

A ceasefire came into effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement. Since April 13, the US has imposed a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the strait.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump also announced “Project Freedom” in early May, pledging to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz despite Iran’s insistence that any passage through this strategic route requires prior approval. Later he announced the suspension of the initiative.<\/p>\n
