Nico Gonzalez is expected to continue at Atletico Madrid in the 2026\/27 season, as reports from Italy indicate that there is already a preliminary agreement between the parties for the Argentine’s stay in the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n

The winger spent the 2025\/26 season at Atletico on loan from Juventus. The Madrid club had paid 1 million euros for his loan, which could rise to 2 million euros through bonuses, while the deal also included a buyout obligation of 32 million euros.<\/p>\n

However, the automatic buyout clause can no longer be activated. Under the agreement, Atletico would be obliged to buy the player outright if he played at least 45 minutes in 60 percent of the LaLiga matches he was available for during the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n

Given that Nico Gonzalez was still part of Juventus in the first three games of the season, he needed a minimum of 21 appearances of 45 minutes or more to reach the required threshold. Although he has played in 24 LaLiga games this season, he has played over 45 minutes in only 16 of them.<\/p>\n

With only two games left until the end of the season and with the player missing three games due to a muscle injury, the goal of activating the clause is already impossible.<\/p>\n

According to “Tuttosport”, Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone want to keep the player even after the end of the loan. but not for the amount of 32 million euros specified in the initial agreement. Other reports indicate that the Spanish club intends to offer the player a contract until the summer of 2031.<\/p>\n

The Italian media claims that there is already an agreement between the player’s representatives and Atletico, while Juventus is also ready to negotiate the sale as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

The main reason is related to the financial aspect, since the Turin club must provide income before June 30 to avoid penalties from UEFA.<\/p>\n

Juventus is believed to have to collect over 20 million euros in order not to register a capital loss from the sale of Nico Gonzalez. However, recent reports say Atletico have no intention of paying more than \u20ac30 million for the 28-year-old winger, although optimism for a deal remains high.<\/p>\n
