The president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkuan, has stated that his country is ready to assure the international community that it is not aiming for nuclear weapons or destabilization in the region, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

“Before the martyrdom of Ayatollah (Ali) Khamenei, the late leader of Iran, we stated and we repeat it even now, that we are ready to assure the world that we do not seek nuclear weapons,” Pezeshkian said in statements broadcast by the agency. state news agency IRNA.<\/p>\n

“On the contrary, it is Tel Aviv that is fueling regional destabilization,” he said, accusing Israel of pursuing the vision of a “Greater Israel.”<\/p>\n

He stressed that Iranian negotiators will never compromise on the country’s “honor and dignity.” His comments came a day after US President Donald Trump announced yesterday that an agreement with Iran to end the war is “mostly negotiated” and awaiting finalization.<\/p>\n

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran in February. Tehran retaliated with attacks on Israel and US allies in the Persian Gulf, as well as closing the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

A cease-fire took effect on April 8 brokered by Pakistan and then extended indefinitely by President Trump.<\/p>\n
