{"id":39258,"date":"2026-05-28T21:45:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T19:45:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/religious-leaders-with-statement-respect-girls-and-women-reject-incitement-to-hatred\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T21:45:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T19:45:16","slug":"religious-leaders-with-statement-respect-girls-and-women-reject-incitement-to-hatred","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/religious-leaders-with-statement-respect-girls-and-women-reject-incitement-to-hatred\/","title":{"rendered":"Religious leaders with statement: Respect girls and women, reject incitement to hatred"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/prizrenpost-og-121.png\" style=\"width:100%;height:auto;margin-bottom:20px\"><\/p>\n<p>Religious leaders in Kosovo, from the Islamic Community, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church, the Evangelical Protestant Church and the Jewish Community have come out with a joint statement through which they have reaffirmed their common commitment to peace, human dignity and respect between all people.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement published by the Islamic Community of Kosovo, political actors, institutions and citizens are called to use sober language, respect for girls and women, rejection of incitement to hatred.<\/p>\n<p>We, the religious leaders of Kosovo \u2013 the Islamic Community, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church, the Evangelical Protestant Church and the Jewish Community \u2013 representing various religious communities, reaffirm our common commitment to peace, human dignity and respect among all people.<\/p>\n<p>We recognize the importance of democratic values and the need for a public climate responsible, especially during election periods.<\/p>\n<p>We call on all political actors, institutions and citizens to respect the following principles:<\/p>\n<p>Language of respect and dignity<br \/>\nWe demand the use of respectful and measured language in public debate; prohibition of insults, humiliation and personal attacks on others; as well as a culture of dialogue based on dignity and mutual respect.<\/p>\n<p>Respect for women and girls<br \/>\nWe demand zero tolerance for sexist or misogynistic language; rejection of harmful stereotypes and gender-based attacks; as well as equal respect, voice and participation for women and girls in public life.<\/p>\n<p>Rejection of hate speech and incitement<br \/>\nWe request the non-use of hate speech, threats or incitement to violence; respect for ethnic, religious and social diversity; as well as active efforts to protect social peace and trust between communities.<\/p>\n<p>Truth and integrity in public life<br \/>\nWe demand honesty and accuracy in public communication; rejection of disinformation and manipulation; as well as respect for the law and democratic standards.<\/p>\n<p>Responsible communication<br \/>\nWe require ethical behavior in media and social platforms; prohibiting online abuse, bullying and abusive language; as well as leadership that sets a calm and responsible tone.<\/p>\n<p>Shared responsibility<br \/>\nWe call on all leaders and citizens to respect these principles throughout the election period; lead others by example; and work together to protect the democratic and social fabric of Kosovo.<\/p>\n<p>As religious leaders, we speak with one voice on this: words matter. They shape behavior. They divide or unite.
