Even a few days ago, Sulyok addressed a request to the Venice Commission on this issue.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that calls for resignation for political reasons negatively affect the constitutional functioning and the authority of the President&#8217;s institution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Tam\u00e1s Sulyok, President of the Republic, asked the constitutional advisory body of the Council of Europe, the European Commission for Democracy and Law, better known as the Venice Commission, to assess the existing issues constitutional and to offer the Board help from experts in resolving the controversial situation, taking into account European constitutional values,&#8221; says the Hungarian president&#8217;s statement to the Venice Commission.<\/p>\n<p>We recall that in his victory speech, the new prime minister called for the resignation of the president and others whom he called &#8220;servants of the Orb\u00e1n regime&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Magyar repeated the request again in an international press conference, and then in a speech at the constitutive session of the parliament, where he practically spoke critically about the president of the country and explained why he thinks he should not stay in office.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"margin:30px 0\">\n<p style=\"font-size:13px;color:#666\">Source: <strong>prizrenpost<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new Hungarian Prime Minister, Peter Magyar, said today, after a meeting with President Tamas Sulyok, that if the latter does not resign, the government will initiate legal proceedings to remove him from office.
