The largest world football organization aims to make the tournament more spectacular and more inclusive for players and fans.

The 2026 World Cup will be the largest in history, with 48 participating national teams, 104 matches and organization in three countries: the United States of America, Canada and Mexico. Precisely for this reason, FIFA wants every match to have the atmosphere of a special event.

According to the new format, all footballers included in the match list, not only the starters, will be placed around the central circle during the interpretation of the national anthems. This means that the substitutes will also be part of the ceremony on the field before the start of the match.

In addition, FIFA has also planned other visual elements to make the moment more grand. Giant flags of the national teams will be used in the stadiums, while the players will enter the pitch through a special arch located next to the tunnel.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that this change aims to create a unique moment of unity and pride for the players.

“As the World Cup continues to expand, we are innovating the way football is experienced. The fact that all players and referees will stand facing each other in the central circle during the anthems will create a moment of unity, pride and emotions that belongs to the teams and the fans”, said Infantino.

However, it remains to be seen how this innovation will be received by the fans. If the ceremony is carried out in the right way, it can add to the excitement before the matches. On the contrary, there is a risk that a part of the public will consider it as an excessive spectacle.

Source: prizrenpost

FIFA has introduced a major innovation for the 2026 World Cup, changing the way the ceremony will take place before the start of each match.
