The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, said today that the G7 countries will do everything they can to ensure that the newly announced US-Iran agreement is implemented and the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, reports Anadolu.<\/p>\n

“We will do everything, first of all, to ensure that this agreement becomes a reality and therefore that Hormuz can be reopened peacefully and that traffic can resume,” Macron said on the TF1 broadcaster, while world leaders are arriving in Evian, France for a three-day summit of the G7 group.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the agreement reached after months of conflict in the region, he renewed the call that everything should be done to implement it. “So we have built, together with the British, a mission; we are on the ground, there are several nations on the ground such as the Dutch, the Italians, the British. We are ready to act very quickly: to send planes, to send a frigate, to send mine-clearing teams”, Macron emphasized.<\/p>\n

He confirmed that the French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” could also be deployed within two to three days after the confirmation. “So what we will do with the Americans, in parallel with the Iranians, is to ensure this deployment so that the reopening of Hormuz happens peacefully and lasts,” he added.<\/p>\n

Macron reaffirmed their readiness to react very quickly once there is an agreement from all parties concerned, underlining that Oman has already told them that they agree with the association.<\/p>\n

The G7 summit is taking place against the backdrop of a major diplomatic development in the Middle East, as the US and Iran agreed to a framework agreement that opens a 60-day window for negotiations.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump is expected to arrive on Monday afternoon for talks with other leaders from other G7 countries: France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the UK.<\/p>\n

EU leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa, will also attend.<\/p>\n
