After the shooting of a police officer in G\u00f6ttingen, investigators are looking for a 16-year-old suspect. He allegedly shot the policeman during a clash between rival clans.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on Saturday evening in the Weender Landstra\u00dfe\/Weender Tor area.<\/p>\n

According to the police, two extended rival families, both known to the police, were fighting there. NDR reports that the family of the 16-year-old suspect is from Kosovo.<\/p>\n

A European arrest warrant has been issued for the teenager on the charge of attempted murder, a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office told n-tv\/dpa and NDR. It is not clear whether the suspect is still in Germany or has already fled abroad.<\/p>\n

The policeman was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. He remains in intensive care, but his life is no longer considered to be in danger.<\/p>\n

The shooter fled the scene after the shooting. Police immediately launched a large-scale search, including the use of a police helicopter. The area around Weender Tor was cordoned off; according to police, there was no danger to the public.<\/p>\n

The reasons for the altercation are still under investigation. The weapon used in the incident has not yet been found.<\/p>\n
