The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, has called it good news that NATO will reduce its presence in Kosovo as a result of the improvement of the security situation.<\/p>\n

A few days ago, the “optimization” of the KFOR mission was also announced by the commander of NATO forces for Europe, American General Alexus Grynkewich.<\/p>\n

Rutte on Wednesday spoke to journalists in Brussels on the eve of meeting of the defense ministers of this Alliance.<\/p>\n

“When we look at the security situation in Kosovo, what we see is that in general last year it continued to improve. That is why it is good news for Kosovo. And that is why NATO in January stopped the deployment of reserve forces in Kosovo. And this was done after two years of continuous rotation”, Mark Rutte.<\/p>\n

Further, the head of NATO said that it is constantly looking at how best adjust the presence of KFOR.<\/p>\n

“Looking forward at this moment, we see that KFOR has a force of about 4,700 troops. What we will do is to return to the presence we had before 2023. Of course, this will depend on the circumstances and we will see that KFOR will have between 3,000 and 3,500 troops. This, I think, reflects the improved security situation,” said Rutte, repeating that KFOR’s mission will remain focused on its basic task. \/Koha.net<\/p>\n
