This is making it increasingly difficult to treat infections.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers are now highlighting the potential of human monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) as a new alternative. These are proteins produced in the laboratory that can very precisely target harmful bacteria or cells.<\/p>\n<p>According to researcher Rino Rappuoli, the strategy based only on the development of new antibiotics has failed, creating increasingly resistant bacteria. He points out that the solution requires several different approaches, with vaccines and antibodies being the most promising.<\/p>\n<p>A major advantage of mAbs is that they can target only harmful bacteria, without destroying the body&#8217;s beneficial bacteria, unlike broad-spectrum antibiotics. This helps preserve the human microbiome.<\/p>\n<p>The study also shows that antibodies can work even when antibiotics fail.
