Most adults diagnosed have no symptoms at all, and when they do, they are very mild and hard to notice.

Doctors explain that the most common symptoms are frequent urination, excessive thirst and blurred vision. But there are other more hidden signs such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, weight loss without reason, constant fatigue, darkening of the skin in some areas and frequent infections in women.

1. Constant fatigue that does not go away with rest

Fatigue is not just feeling sleepy. Even after resting, the person continues to feel without energy.

This is because changes in blood sugar levels and obesity can affect the body’s energy and mental state.

2. Unusual thirst and frequent urination

This happens because too much sugar in the blood makes the kidneys work harder to filter it out. When they cannot cope, the body loses fluids and dehydration occurs, increasing the feeling of thirst and the need to urinate.

3. Increased hunger and weight loss for no reason

When the body fails to use sugar as energy, one feels more hungry, but at the same time loses weight because it loses calories through urination and disordered metabolism.

High blood sugar can draw fluid from the body, including from the eye, affecting vision. If left untreated, it can damage the blood vessels in the eye and lead to vision loss.

These can appear even after a minor trauma, but in some cases are linked to more serious diseases, including diabetes.

Sweet-smelling breath can be linked to blood sugar disorders and pre-diabetic conditions.

7. Tingling, burning or numbness in the legs

This can be the result of damage to nerves and blood circulation due to high blood sugar. If it lasts for several weeks, a medical check-up is recommended.

Source: prizrenpost

Often we would expect clear signs when we have diabetes, but this is not always the case.
