They should wait for the announcement of the decision,” he said.

Serbs from Kosovo, from Serbia and the countries of the region traditionally gather every June 28 in Gazimestan, to commemorate the Battle of Kosovo, namely the battle against the Ottomans in 1389.

At the entrance of Gazimestan, the Kosovo Police distributed a notice to visitors stating that “holding and displaying symbols will not be tolerated that represent or incite inter-ethnic, religious or political hatred”.

Some of those present chanted “Kosova is Serbia” and sang songs dedicated to Kosovo and Vidovdan.

The Diocese of Rashka and Prizren of the Serbian Orthodox Church stated that it does not and will never justify any call for hatred, violence or violation of public order, but that “folk songs, the memory of the ancestors, traditional dress and the peaceful expression of religious and national identity cannot, in themselves, be treated as a danger to public order”.

The church also expressed concern over, it said, claims that some of the detainees had been exposed to “physical and psychological abuse, slaps, blows, insults, threats, humiliation, as well as claims that they had been asked to chant ‘Kosovo Republika’, under the threat of beating”.

“These claims must be investigated and verified seriously. Even more disturbing are the claims that a part of the traditional clothing of one of the detainees was desecrated and that some people were offered medical assistance”, the announcement states.

Source: prizrenpost

Before the Basic Court in Pristina, those accused of the crime of “causing riots and endangering public order and tranquility” were declared innocent, while the decision in their case will be taken on July 1.
