France coach Didier Deschamps has strongly defended captain Kylian Mbappe, stating that the Real Madrid forward is “on a mission” to lead France to another World Cup triumph.<\/p>\n

At the press conference before the round of 16 match against Sweden, Deschamps praised Mbappe’s role both on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n

According to the French coach, the captain of “Les Bleus is not distracted by the media noise or his career at the club level for him from the outside it rarely matches what he really is.<\/p>\n

The French coach said that Mbappe continues to improve every year and does not stop breaking records miss a check but never give up. He belongs to the category of exceptional players and he is lucky to be French,” added Deschamps.<\/p>\n

Mbappe has scored four goals at the 2026 World Cup and is second on the goalscoring list behind Lionel Messi who leads the way with six goals.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old forward has also reached the quota of 16 goals in World Cup history, equaling Miroslav Klosen in second place in the historical ranking, while Messi holds the first place with 19 goals.<\/p>\n

During this World Cup, Mbappe also became the best scorer in the history of the French national team, reaching 60 goals and leaving behind Olivier Giroud, who held the record with 57 goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
