According to the allergist Dr. Rauno Joks, some of the most common items and habits at home can trigger allergies, especially in people who suffer from allergic rhinitis.

Here are the three most common “culprits”:

Even though they look clean, mattresses, pillows and sheets are an ideal environment for dust mites. These microscopic organisms feed on dead skin cells and can cause symptoms such as sneezing, stuffy nose and itchy eyes.

To reduce exposure, the expert recommends the use of protective covers for mattresses and pillows, regular washing of sheets at high temperature, as well as frequent ventilation of the bedroom.

Unwashed dishes or food left on the counter overnight do not attract only insects, but can create conditions for other allergens, such as cockroaches and mice. Proteins found in their droppings, saliva, and hair can cause allergic reactions in many people.

Keeping a clean kitchen, storing food in sealed containers, and taking out trash regularly are simple steps that make a difference.

Air conditioning can be a lifesaver in the heat, but if filters aren’t cleaned or changed regularly, they collect dust, moisture, and mold, a combination that can worsen allergies.

Check the filters periodically and pay attention to areas of the house where moisture is created, such as the bathroom, kitchen or basement, as mold develops there more easily.

If symptoms persist throughout the year, despite cleaning the house, specialists advise consulting an allergist for specific tests, in order to identify the cause and find the most suitable treatment.

Source: prizrenpost

If blocked noses, sneezing or itchy eyes accompany you throughout the year, the problem may not be outside the house, but inside it.
