The record low water level of the Danube in recent weeks has caused numerous problems for navigation, ecosystems and the economy, but at the same time it has revealed scenes that have been hidden beneath the surface of the river for decades.<\/p>\n
The receding water has made it possible for the remains of ships, explosive devices, cars and even fossils of long-extinct animals to be visible in some places.<\/p>\n
One of The most interesting discoveries were recorded near the city of Ryahovo in Bulgaria, where remains were found that experts believe belong to a mammoth. According to the first estimates, it is about the lower jaw, two teeth and a possible rib. Archaeologists and paleontologists continue to search to determine the age and origin of the bones found.<\/p>\n
The low water level also revealed the wreckage of a car that was stolen more than a decade ago in Hungary. After the vehicle was pulled from the river, police used license plates to determine it belonged to the owner who disappeared 13 years ago.
