Investigators of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) have today arrested a police officer in Gjilan, on suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses of “assault”, “slight bodily harm” and “intimidation”.<\/p>\n

According to the IPK, the investigators were notified a few days ago about the case through a complaint submitted to the regional office of the IPK in Gjilan.<\/p>\n

It is suspected that the police officer, while he was off duty official, had committed illegal actions.<\/p>\n

“The incident is reported to have happened on August 13, 2026 on the road “Lidhja e Prizren” in Gjilan, the off-duty police officer was involved in a dispute with some young people. PIK in coordination with the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan has started an investigation against the suspected official. Investigators in coordination with the State Prosecutor have taken the necessary investigative actions where after these initial actions investigation, the police officer was arrested today”, says the announcement of the IPK.<\/p>\n

By the prosecutor’s decision, the suspect has been detained for 48 hours, while the IPK has also recommended his suspension.<\/p>\n

“Further investigative actions related to this case will be continued by the investigators of the IPK in constant consultation with the responsible prosecutor”, it is emphasized at the end of the announcement.<\/p>\n
