{"id":774,"date":"2014-03-16T12:03:57","date_gmt":"2014-03-16T11:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/?p=774"},"modified":"2014-03-16T12:06:38","modified_gmt":"2014-03-16T11:06:38","slug":"israeli-police-attack-worshippers-in-al-aqsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/israeli-police-attack-worshippers-in-al-aqsa\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli police attack worshippers in Al-Aqsa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/prizrenpost.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/aksa-aqsa.jpg\" alt=\"aksa-aqsa\" width=\"670\" height=\"400\" class=\"aligntop size-full wp-image-777\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since the early morning, Israeli forces closed several gates of the holy site and denied entry to more than 500 religious students<br \/>\nIsraeli forces fired stun grenades and rubber bullets at Palestinian worshippers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Al-Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) on Sunday, a Palestinian official said.<br \/>\n\u201cIsraeli forces stormed Al-Aqsa compound through Al-Selseleh Gate,&#8221; Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, director-general of Muslim endowments and Al-Aqsa affairs in Al-Quds, told Anadolu Agency.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Israeli forces fired stun grenades and rubber bullets at the worshippers  and surrounded a handful of them in Al-Qibali Mosque inside the compound,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nAccording to al-Khatib, since the early morning, Israeli forces closed several gates of the holy site and denied entry to more than 500 religious students.<br \/>\nEarlier in the day, al-Khatib said that the Israeli police closed most of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound&#8217;s gates and prevented Palestinian worshippers under the age of 50 from entering.<br \/>\nThe measures came as several Jewish extremist groups called on its followers to storm the site on the occasion of Purim Jewish holiday, which is celebrated Sunday.<br \/>\nIsraeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in statement that \u201cstones were thrown at police officers&#8221; at Al-Magharbeh Gate as the site was opened to visitors.<br \/>\nNaser Qous, an Al-Aqsa guard, said that a number of worshipers were wounded during the clashes with Israeli police, and one of the injured was transported to hospital.<br \/>\nIn recent months, groups of extremist Jewish settlers \u2013 often accompanied by Israeli security forces \u2013 have repeatedly entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex. The frequent violations anger Palestinian Muslims and occasionally lead to violent confrontations.<br \/>\nFor Muslims, Al-Aqsa represents the world&#8217;s third holiest site.<br \/>\nJews refer to the area as the &#8220;Temple Mount,&#8221; claiming it was the site of two prominent Jewish temples in ancient times.<br \/>\nIsrael occupied Al-Quds during the 1967 Middle East War.
